Intek Headquarters The Bionetics Corporation acquired the assets of Intek Inc. to continue the legacy of the Rheotherm® and RheoVac® products and associated services. The Bionetics Corporation is a diversified engineering and government services firm with robust capabilities and in-depth technical talent which will be employed to continue serving Intek clients and expand operations into new fields. Through this transition, The Bionetics Corporation has retained key Intek staff and capabilities to continue supporting field units as well as engineer new solutions moving forward.

Intek, now the Bionetics Corporation, was founded in 1976, under the direction of Dr. Joseph Harpster, with the goal of integrating advanced technologies to solve complex measurement problems. In early 1978, a major oil company approached us with a flow problem. The solution led to the development of Rheotherm flow instruments: flow meters and flow switches. The Company has built a reputation for highly accurate and reliable flow measurement systems, capable of operating at low flow rates and compatible with most industrial chemicals and gases. Our instruments and services help customers in a wide range of industries, including Power Generation, Nuclear, Chemical/Petrochemical, Pulp & Paper, Semiconductor, Consumer Products/Packaging, and Water/Wastewater. Our experience and engineering skill also allow us to design custom flow solutions for customers with unique flow specifications

In 1992 a power generation company approached us with the question “can you measure flow in a vacuum?” The solution to this problem led to the development of our other major line of business: RheoVac systems and services for power plant condensers. Our unique understanding of condenser performance which led to the development of these flow instruments and services help power plants optimize the operation of their steam surface condensers, improving heat rate and reducing operating and maintenance costs.

Intek owners accept Boeing Quality Award. We are committed to maintaining a high level of technical excellence and customer service. Our quality assurance program is certified to ISO 9001:2015 (click here to view certificate). We are active in supplying flow meters for the nuclear industry measuring fluids that expose sensors to over 100 Mrad (lifetime). In addition, the company has manufactured equipment for the space program to the rigorous requirements for NASA manned spacecraft. On the first anniversary of the on-orbit Space Station, we were one of only two companies recognized by Boeing with the Exceptional Company Performance Award, for excelling in technical, cost and schedule performance.

In May of 2022, The Bionetics Corporation acquired the assets of Intek, Inc. The Bionetics Corporation is headquartered in Yorktown, Virginia, and we serve our clients from operating locations nationwide and internationally. Bionetics’ operating philosophy is to place the capability required to meet and exceed customer requirements as close to the customer as possible. Thus, we maintain a very lean corporate infrastructure and empower our local managers and employees to make decisions and solve problems on our customer’s behalf. We employ short, direct lines of communication and work hard to build a spirit of teamwork and partnership in all of our business operations.
